Creation to the Max!!

So this morning I woke up with frost on my car so thick I had to scrape it off. Crap, dog!! (I pretend like I'm sad but really I love fall and I'm happy it's coming a month early because that means there's a chance it will last 2 months instead of one. But I bet that's not how it works. We'll have permenant snow in September.) I also woke up this morning to a nice little thing I like to call, "Low Tire Pressure," and "No Gas." Did I also mention it's so cold in my office that my fingers are numb and the 2 sweaters I have on are making my body temperature just right and not slightly warm?
Anyway, on a good note, today I plan on going antique shopping as well as craft shopping. I'm planning on making some things that I can sell online. Ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to create an etsy!! After all, any crafter needs an etsy! With all of the stuff I like to make, I feel like I will have a well rounded etsy. I plan to include handmade aprons, jewlry, knitted goods, clothes, maybe some stationary, and also maybe some obscure antiques that I find! My friend Audriana was also interested in starting one with me. She's a fabulous artist/photographer and also shares the love of a crafter. I feel like it's a good, well rounded match for my etsy. Maybe my sister who prints patches and clothes and is also quite the clothing designer would contribute a few items. I feel like this etsy will be on a rocket ship to success!! I will be sure to let you know when we have enough compiled items to create one!
So later I'm off to shop!!
Until next time!!

An 8 that wouldn't fit an 8 year old.

There is nothing that makes you feel more down about yourself than to sew a skirt that is 2 sizes larger than what you usually wear and then when you try it on half way through making it and you realize that if you keep going the way you are, it will never be able to go past halfway up your thighs. As I was trying to inch it further up to see if I could try to get by so that I could fit in it uncomfortably and with the seams stretching, I started to remember all of the things I had eaten that week and how I had never exercised. In fact, I haven't exercised for about a month.
So tonight I'm going to take the necessary steps to making that stupid skirt fit. One is to let out all of the seams. That should hopefully help. Next would be to call my sister in law and see if she's willing to once again go on an exercising routine with me. Possibly one that starts early in the morning so that we're not exercising super late into the night which is what we were doing last year. That, dear readers is my ultimate plan to fit into a size 8 that wouldn't fit an eight year old.
Aside from that little tid-bit of news, I took a few pictures over the weekend that I will hopefully post tomorrow if I remember to bring my camera.
Until next time!

This Just In!

I know I already blogged today and that's it kind of late, but I just wanted to say because I was so excited that I got a wonderful clock today for $11 and I reupholstered a dining room chair and it looks awesome!

Started on a Bad Note

Today started out with me rolling my tired butt out of bed, throwing on some clothes, and showerlessly driving my husband to the airport. After I dropped him off I went to one of my favorite coffee shops to treat myself with some breakfast and coffee only to find that I had forgotten my debit card. All I had was some checks and that coffee shop doesn't take checks any more. So I went off to the more expensive and not so tasty coffee shop, only to arrive to work 10 min. late and with no lunch. So I just begged a granola bar off of someone and a few stale cookies. Today has been awesome so far.
On a good note, I saw a shirt I wish to purchase and I also have a couple of new projects up my sleeve. And so I will sit here at my work top with my cup of english breakfast tea and tell you of all my new aspirations.
I bought some camel colored plaid fabric to make a vintage inspired vogue pencil skirt with a high waist... it's a little hard to describe but the waist also has a little extra button and waistband detailing. I'm super excited to make it and plan on starting tonight!
Also I bought a slip cover to hide the hideous red of a couch in my house. I still need to manipulate that dumb slip cover. I'm beginning to hate it as much as the red color of the couch. But I also bought some rich pailsy fabric along with some novelty taffeta and I've been making myself some couch pillows. I had a hard time finding something to match, but this paisley I got does and the color of my moss colored couch brings out colors in the fabric I didn't even notice before! It looks amazing. :)
I also think I'm going to use the left overs of some of the fabric to re opolster a chair. I don't know if I spelled that right... Pretty sure I didn't.
So now my tea is all gone and that's what I have up my ally besides the other knitting projects I have already talked about. (My socks are ALMOST done. )
So until next time! Hopefully I can take some decent pictures!

Shortay

So... I guess today wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. I cleaned out my car, my house, and am currently at my parents house waiting for my first load of laundry to get out of the washer. After I swipe a few recipes from my mom and get the second load in the dryer, I'll probably make a list and head over to the store for some grocery goods. (I wonder if tights for my work would be taken out of my five dollar a day budget. Probably. I hate that stupid budget.) I even had time to bake some of my favorite molasses crinkle cookies today.
I found an awesome book in my sister's book basket today called, "(apron.ology) Aprons with Attitude." It's such a neat book because none of the stitches are even and they dye the fabric with things like berry juice. And then on the next page there is an apron that is made completely out of tulle. How interesting!
Well, I guess that's all for today. Not very much happening.
Until next time.

An Uncanny Nack

I have been told that knitting is a mathematical equation and that all the people who create knitting patterns are mathematical geniuses. Now, after designing a few simple things myself, I quickly brushed that tid bit of information from my mind because I used no math what so ever. Let's just say I have an uncanny talent of eye measurement. I also have an uncanny talent for making things up as I go. But this is not what I'm trying to make you see so I will get on to another story and believe me, these two stories will connect before long.

The other day I was searching the knitting blog world, when I found a girl who designs her own sweater patterns in Europe. One of the pictures posted on said blog, was her note book filled with extensive equations and sitting next to said notebook was a pencil and scientific calculator. After seeing this picture I kind of started to think that maybe this knitting thing that I've been so tied up in for half my life is a little bit harder than I thought.
So after this encounter, I decided to get out my sweater pattern book and see how much yarn I needed for the sweater I'm going to knit myself. As I'm casually reading the yarn requirements, I happen to notice that this sweater will be slightly too big if I follow this pattern. So I find a little section that tells you ALL about how to fix the pattern so that the sweater will meet your size requirements. Holy Moly. I'm a little scared to try. Will I be satisfied with a sweater that is a little too big for me? I think NOT! So this just means that I (Who is not mathematically inclined what so ever) will have to read that section and the pattern over and over again until I understand and can take a wack at the whole sweater knitting business.

Anyway, my husband is coming home this weekend and it's become a little shocking how busy I am this week compared to last week. I wanted to clean and get EVERYTHING unpacked and put away in our new house before he comes home. But with work, driving out to someone's house to do laundry, people staying over at my new house, AND cleaning the apartment we moved out of, I have no idea how I'll find time to do it all. I haven't had time for knitting or reading at night, I haven't even had time for doing the dishes! Fortunately my little sister has been holding down the fort at my house and doing the dishes is one of her specialties. I was at the old apartment until 11:30 last night (which is my usual bedtime) and then I had to drive the half hour to get home.... needless to say I was in bed by 12:45 and up at the butt crack of 7am and I am so tired today.
So I think you've had enough about my complaining.
Thanks for the friendly ear!

Eye Twitch

God was so right when he says in the Bible that man can't be alone. Because my husband is out on a job for two weeks and it's been interesting. I do alright until something happens. Like I get a cut or something. Or like I almost run out of gas. After things like that happen, I just kind of fall apart. I start questioning my sanity and my emotional health. I feel like parking my car on the side of the road and weeping. I feel like going home and baking a huge cake and eating it all by myself. Luckily I have amazing self control, kind of like a super hero. I have been able to keep all of these raging loneliness wars at bay inside of my head and avoid strange cake baking frenzies. Although that in particular is a war I'm not fighting to hard. In fact, the promise of a fresh baked chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream frosting is making me think very long and hard about surrender.
Another sign of loneliness is when you go over to someone's house, watch them have a heated discussion, and not feel awkward but glad just to be with other people. Or when your siblings come over to stay so that you stop going crazy and you show them where everything is in your house. From the where to brush their teeth all the way to what where the sugar is just incase they want some.
Needless to say, I have an amber alert case. So I decided because of it to go and clean out my car. All the little left behind trails like fast food wrappers, paper coffee cups, and random junk mail of moving need to find a home in the garbage can sometime. And the small layer of dust that is collecting on my dash and the mystery sticky swipe on the driver's side window is starting to give me an eye twitch.
So I had better go.
Audios!
